Rekindled Delight

Across a landscape etherealAnd not yet tamed by timeTo journeymen of syllableUnfurls a world of rhymeAnd stars that poets climb Sometimes knowledge alone is cursedAnd deaf to the wild soundThat plagues the lowly bard with thirstFor wisdom not yet foundAnd lyrics still unbound How ephemeral is the gateThat swings softly ajarTo usher through glimmers that baitPoems that not yet areSave in one fallen star …snared on a shimmer of surpriseTo thwart the stinging biteOf words cut down to arrow sizeTo spur the songsters flightIn rekindled delight The bull's eye of a poet's heartWeathers many-a-testLong suffering is worth the art And hunger worth the questOf sorrow at its best © Janet Martin
