Make Today a Celebration
Inspired in part by King Solomon's Prayer of Dedication in below, a small excerpt (click link above for full chapter)
1 Kings 8:56-61“Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses. 57 May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us. 58 May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees and laws he gave our ancestors. 59 And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need, 60 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other. 61 And may your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”

May today, for each of us be a reverent hymn of praiseto He who is the same God today as in the days of oldand will ever be!
Make today a celebrationPour from forms of mortal dustReverence and adorationFor God, holy, true and justHe, whose glory beyond tellingTranscends heaven's highest partsYet He comes and makes His dwellingIn temples of human hearts
Praise Him where ten thousand reasonsBarely skims His majestyHe who twirls time’s reel of seasonsLowered twixt eternityPraise Him for His mighty powerStaying judgment’s righteous wrathUntil the appointed hourWhen not one will scorn nor laugh
Make today a dedicationOf Self, humbly sacrificedFor there is no condemnationFor all they/we who are in ChristWho do not walk in ways worldlyBut according to God’s wordStrive to be a servant, whollyWith devotion undeterred
Make today a celebrationRinging with authentic praiseTo the Author of creationFor the wonder of His waysHe, who rich in mercy hears usAs we cast on Him our caresHe whose love unfailing cheers usThough life’s pilgrimage of prayers
He whose judgements will not falterBy Him everything was madeHe who witnesses the altarWhere worship's off'ring is laid Raise unrivaled adorationLet praise, like an ocean rollIn a hymn of celebrationTo the Saviour of the Soul
