For The Joy Set Before Us...

PAD Challenge Day 12: For today's prompt, write a future poem. Heb.12:2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Luke 2:10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. A hymn of great joy! What lies behind we cannot changeWhat looms ahead we cannot seeToday, the day the Lord has madeBrims with redemption's majesty Good tidings of great joy still ringAs we press on to life's rewardAnchored in mercy's offeringA Saviour, who is Christ the Lord The message that the angels boreStill peals with hope's favor and graceConcealed in joy still set beforeWhen we behold Him face to face The evidence of things unseenIs worth the fight that faith employsAs we endure what lies betweenEach step we take to Heaven's joys Fear not, for unto us this dayGlad tidings of great joy resoundNothing can take our hope awayAs we traverse time's holy ground A Saviour, who is Christ the LordHas borne our sorrow and our griefHe suffered what none could affordThe punishment that brought us peace For the joy set before Him HeEndured the cross, despised its shameSeeing beyond the agonyTo all who would call on His Name Made perfect through His sufferingWhere we esteemed Him stricken, HeSalvation's captain, crushed the stingOf death, robbed graves of victory The message that the angels toldIn days of old, none can destroyThe anchor of the cross will holdTill hope is crowned with Heaven's joy Janet Martin For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
