A Prayer For Peace (When troubles increase)

Our church family has been challenged to memorizeone verse from the message each week; This week's verse isJohn 14:27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world gives.Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Our service was closed on Sunday morning with the above verseas well as the one belowJohn 16:33I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Little did we know then just how soon and how utterly we would need toclaim these truths in this troubled world. Lord, when troubles increaseTo test faith’s words of loveAnoint us with Thy perfect peaceThis world knows nothing of Lord, let love’s incense riseIn fragrance to thy throneAs hope, though broken-hearted cries‘We trust in Thee Alone’ Lord, as we weep and praySearch each heart’s secret veinsTo see if any wicked wayWe safeguard, still remains Lord, great are Thy commandsConvict where we grow slackForbid that we would put our handsTo the plow, then look back Anoint us with Thy peaceTreasure in jars of clayLord, let anxiety releaseAs we trust and obey Root out the deadly tareThat chokes godly desireWhere sin has set a subtle snareConvict with holy fire We are but vessels, ohBy divine love, out-pouredLord, let Thy perfect peace bestowBroken spirits restored Janet Martin
