What is the Use?

I got a mega-reality-jolt as I lined up the calendars of years flying by!Reminding me of this verse! James 4:14What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. What is the use of passing yearsIf at their end we findWhen its last moment disappearsWe are still no more kind What is the use of each year’s castFastened to ‘how time flies’If when its final day has passedWe still are no more wise What use is time’s swift no returnGifted in day-to-dayIf  love's lessons we ought to learnHave not taught us to pray What is the use of good intentOf resolution's dareIf we are, at the old year’s endNo better than we were What is the use, when looking backWith sentimental heartWe blush to see that we still lackWhat we did at the start? What is the use of  all we chase Like a red, rubber ballIf God's goodness, mercy and graceHave not changed us at all © Janet Martin Psalm 90:12Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Eph.5:15-21See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,  redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, giving thanks always for all things submitting to one another in the fear of God.
