We Are All Children (at Christmas Time)

we were counting cookies, one, two, three when someone stole the cherries!H-m-m-m, who could it be ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’— this poem is a mingling of past, present and futurepart recollection, part participationand part anticipation ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’– Arms open wide to big hugs of helloBreath hangs on air, breathless with stars of snowScents from the kitchen delight young and old(We are all children when licking out bowls) Love looks for ways to fit into a boxDollies and teddy bears, books, balls and blocksNew socks, odd gadgets, bubble bath, wind chime(We are all children at gift-giving/getting time) Tins fill with many a sugary prizeBudget and extravagance compromiseCook-space grows crowded, taste-testers abound(We are all children where cookies are found) Christmas hymns kindle heart-hearths with loveโ€™s joyWe thrill as gladness spills from girl and boyJoy to the World, Silent Night, Deck the Halls(We are all children while singing those carโ€™ls ) Hark! hear that glorious story againGaze at the angels, shepherds and wise menKneel at the manger, be wondrously awedFor, we are all children when gazing at God ยฉ Janet Martin Hark! hear that glorious story againGaze at the angels, shepherds and wise menKneel at the manger, be wondrously awedFor, we are all children when gazing at God
