Sneak-peek at Spring Things
Four more sleeps till the first day of spring!!
Soon earth will burst with garden roomsForsythia and dogwood plumesTulips and daffodils will strollLike little girls across the knollAnd heaven will tip welkin jarsTo dapple dells with violet starsAnd orchard thoroughfares will teaseNoses with heady blossom breezeAnd honey bees will buzz and humFrom lilac to geraniumAnd rose buds will spill miraclesAnd trees will hoist lace parasolsAnd woodland citadels will ringWith feathered throngs that sing and singAnd brooks will tumble out to the seaWith a refurbished melodyAnd raindrop tap dancers will waltzAnd puppies will turn somersaults...and puddles will be full of feetWhere almost-heaven and earth meetAnd housewives will fling windows wideTo welcome the outdoors insideAnd farmers will stoke dusty slopesWhile planting seed-sized prayers and hopesAnd children, like colored balloonsWill swing away warm afternoonsAnd laundry lines will be a string Of motley banners, flutteringAnd the air will kindle a grinThat starts somewhere beneath our skin And life will be sweeter becauseSpring fills the world where winter was
