Only The Best Will Do or Perfect Best
This is the time of yearwe start wracking our brains for perfect giftsbecause only the best will do when it comes to saying'I love you'
When considering our efforts of finding 'the best'doesn't it evoke a picture of God, before that first Christmas morn, looking down on the world, His heart shattered with love as He wept, for He knew 'only the Best will do!'when it came to proving His love for me and for you!
Matt.1:21And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
I LOVE the lyrics to the song below
This is the time of yearUnlike the whole year throughWhen we choose gifts for loved ones dearOnly the best will do
In this season of loveBoxes and bags becomeVaults filled with motley treasures ofSocks, books, toys, candy, gum
Presents are squirreled awayIn unsuspecting nooksA kind of game that parents playLest Curious Youngster looks
Reason softens its stanceAs love and prudence wrestAs budgets and hearts spar and danceTo find The Perfect Best
The Perfect Best is loveTherefore, love longs to showThe best it can, reflections ofFirst Christmas, long ago
When Heaven’s Perfect BestGod’s equal, put on manKnowing the cost, did not contestSalvation’s perfect plan
Because God loved us soOn that first Christmas mornInto this sin-cursed world of woeA Redeemer was born
For God looked from aboveAnd He saw me and YouAnd said, as His heart broke with love‘Only the Best will do’
So, God gave us a KingA gift beyond all kenHis only Son, Jesus, to bringPeace and goodwill to men
A gift that saves the soulAnd flings ajar a GateThat leads to faith’s ultimate goalWhere God and heaven wait
Then pray, this time of yearWe rev’rently recallThe Reason for the season, dearThe gift that says it all
For things are only thingsLove is the Perfect BestThe gift that only Jesus bringsMakes perfect, all the rest

John 3:16For God so loved the world thatHe gave us His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Himshould not perish but have everlasting life
Phil.2:5-8Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:Who, existing in the form of God,did not consider equality with Godsomething to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,He humbled Himselfand became obedient to death—even death on a cross.
