Love Song for God's Word
Ps.119:11Your word I have hidden in my heart,That I might not sin against You.
Oh, how I love God’s wordHis Presence fills each pageHis loving kindness undergirdsFaith’s flight, from age to age
He comforts and assuresHe leads us in the WayHis everlasting law enduresCome whatsoever may
His goodness, truth and LightFor all faith cannot seeEquips us with power and mightTo face the enemy
To recognize sin’s ployTo guard against the foeTo reaffirm the hope and joyOnly He can bestow
To keep in perfect peaceThe mind transfixed on HimTo generate wisdom’s increaseAnd bid worldly views dim
To bridge the cosmic gapThat else would gape betweenTo expose the vile tempter’s trapAlluring and obscene
To tell me of His loveOf mercy’s staff and rodTo caution, correct and reproveAnd instill man with God
To rekindle the flameHis gift of grace beganAs I uttered the only nameThat saves the soul of man
To remind me to trustHe who supplies each needAnd counts my numbered days of dustTried by doubt, fear and greed
Oh, how I love God’s wordTo wake in you and meA hymn of worship undeterredFor all eternity
His promises sustainThe faith that fain would failSave for the Fount nothing can drainOf love that will prevail
As we, surrounded byA cloud of witnessesCommit each desperate heart-cryTo God's kind faithfulness
Where His Voice breaks the breadThat restoreth the soulThen, as spirit-hunger is fedOnce more faith is made whole
His Word alone providesUnworldly fellowshipGod ministers as man confidesAnd releases pride’s grip
His Word perfects the prayerAs we learn to be stillTo listen, then life’s weight of careSurrenders to His will
His Word beyond compareMy words inept to tellThe wonders we discover whereHis changeless precepts dwell
Stayed anchor when gales stingWhen opposing winds seetheHis Word covers me with His wingAnd gathers me beneath
To thrill me with His loveTo protect me from sinLed by the soundless thunder ofHis still, small voice within
Oh, how I love God’s wordRich with mercy and graceTo cheer me on and undergird Until faith sees His face
