Lord, When I Think About Your Love or Awed Impetus
Lord, when I think about Your loveAnd what it bid of YouMay it revive awed impetusTo be faithful and trueThou, King of kings and Lord of lordsAuthor of earth and skyLed like a lamb ‘neath slaughter’s swordsOn a cross lifted high
Lord, when I think about Your SonWho died so I could liveWho, during His crucifixionCried out, ‘Father, forgive’I pray that Your love would pour throughMy redeemed edificeTo amaze, humble and renewDevotion’s impetus
Lord, when I think about Your loveThe Lamb that took my placeI cannot comprehend the troveThe spills grace upon graceOr the breadth of Thy treasuryFrom which mercies aboundTo satisfy each earthly pleaWith purpose heaven-crowned
Lord, when I think about your loveWords fail to intercedeRedemption’s ‘Infinite Enough’Supplies infinite needWhere blood drenched altars made of stoneCould never satisfyWhat only Christ’s blood could atoneThe sins of you and I
Lord, when I think about the breathThat rent the temple's veilAnd broke the curse that authored deathAll other wonders paleThe love that frees, and bought for usNot punishment, but PrizeThe blood of Jesus wrought for usThe right to Paradise
Lord, when I think of who You sentSpite’s sword falls from my handRedemption seals a covenantI cannot understandYou gave Your Son to take my placeThough You know me full wellStill, I receive grace upon graceInstead of death and hell

John 1:16-17From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
