Life's Hold-and-Let-Go Minuet

Off on a long anticipated trip to England!...before moving out for the summer. Last night the sun set on life-as-I-know-it for a while... Today marks the beginning of a four-month empty-nester season...though, thankfully this 'nest' is rarely empty for long! 1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: ...so here's to cherishing every momentof every fleeting season of life! Let me let nothingpass me byLet me leap for joy,let me flyAnd fall and tastethe salt of tearsLet me smile in the faceof fearsAnd never shirkthe work it takesTo make love’sMemory-keepsakesLike dreams come trueand birthday cakes… Let me crave love’s pangs,And the stingThat season changeis bound to bringThen brave the brunt ofyes and noTo learn a humblerletting goLet me lingerbut not too longto catch the lyrics oflove’s songThat, as it fadesGrows sweet and strong …still tangiblewhere echoes waftThe noise of boys and girlsgrown softUpon the airof night to nightAnd prayer on prayer, oft taking flightAs hello hugsand farewell tearsand tender tugs, love's souvenirsCompose tableausof yesteryears ...where, in the wakeof noon to noon/June to JuneThe ache of happinessis strewnLike minuets thatebb and rushAcross shorelines, blurred by a brushthat leaves no tracesave on my browwhere once-upona younger NowTurned olderAnd meeker, somehow ...where love now wearsThe priceless painOf sorrow likeA diamond-chainI bind  it roundMy neck and heartLike a valuableWork of artThat I would neverChoose and yetThat I never wantTo forgetLife's Hold-and-let-goMinuet © Janet Martin
