Gift-Unwrapping Onus

Ps.78:4&6-7We will not hide them from their children,Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.... ...That the generation to come might know them,The children who would be born,That they may arise and declare them to their children,That they may set their hope in God,And not forget the works of God,But keep His commandments;... Tug gently where dawn’s coral tulleGilt-edged, dissolves night’s crepusculeWhere mercy’s kind pledge is renewedTo author humble gratitude Tread softly where a shadow-worldBeneath each sunrise is unfurledDawn’s wrapping paper falls awayGranting a gift, we call Today Touch kindly its fugitive leaseCherish it with love, joy and peaceTake time to pray-smile-sing, to sitAnd worship the Giver of it Tend wisely, what is given theeAnd live as if today could beThe Gift that flings ajar The DoorBetween time and Forevermore © Janet Martin
