Faith's Sacred Enrollment
Through what lies behindwe are being preparedfor what lies ahead!

God cares for each of us beyond our wildest comprehension;and invites us to cast our cares on Him!Why do I/we often attempt to shoulder careas if He didn't care?!!

What great fun and frustration, as we cheer onour favourite teams, for better or worse!
When we put our faith in Godwe become part of a 'team'whose 'Coach' puts us through drills we often don't recognizeunless/until they produce His desire's sacred result;a more humbly prayerful people.
Oh Lord, we give thee thanksWhatever comes our wayMay circumstance unveil the ranksThat teaches us to pray...that tutors hope and trustThough sorrow's throes increaseAs we surrender what we mustYou fill us with your peace
Lord, nothing is too hardFor You to will and doWhere the deceiver preys, you guardThe heart, humble and trueAnd should we stumble, stillYou do not turn awayBut with the shards of broken willYou teach us how to pray
Oh Lord, kindly renewOur courage through your loveHelp us to wholly lean on YouThe wellspring of Enough For we know no true lossWhatever comes our wayAs long as You command/commend the cross That teaches us to pray
To wallow in regretIs futile; Lord, pray weWill learn from the mistakes that setMore sorry sights on Thee Forgiver of our sinHelp us as You prepareThe sacred drills faith enrolls in; Today's lessons in prayer
Our faith ought never beIn throne-rooms of this worldLord, open eyes of faith to seeYour mighty Hand unfurledThen, as a soldier/soul-dier trueWhatever comes our way Help us to put our trust in YouWho teaches us to pray
Your strength, through weakness gleamsIn grief, Your comfort cheersFrom the ash-heaps of broken dreamsWe cry; Your kindness hearsAnd bends to bind the illThat comes through creature careThat tests us with love's best untilWe lean on You in prayer © Janet Martin
