Boon of New Today
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee:let such as love thy salvation say continually,The LORD be magnified.
Above the boon of New TodayA slice of moon slip-slips awayTime’s primed pronouncements of decayPresents us with love’s latest chargeWhere so much worse and better waitsTo rush dawn’s diamond-studded gates…a big balloon that dusk deflatesbut now is like a gleaming barge
...bearing us to new highs and lowsWhere farewells, disguised as hellosUntether high-fives and low-blowsLike loosed petals that glim and glanceAnd settle where the dust we stirredIs cast in Past and echo-blurredSwept up in a tide, undeterredIn the better and worse life grants
Where much enchants and much offendsWhere kindness always makes amendsAnd life is short, so let’s be friendsBefore the boon of new TodayIs swaddled beneath shadow-shawlsAnd lost, save in the fond footfallsAs thought retraces steps through hallsThat showcase what has slipped away
