Beneath the Cross...

Matt.1:21And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” John 1:29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! Behold the Lamb of GodNailed to a cross so meanBe still, and gaze upon the bloodThat washes sinners cleanAh, can you see Him nowRaised up for all to seeHis bleeding side, hands, feet and browBehold His agony Pierced with thorns, nails and swordBlood-thirsty, the mob screamsNot knowing, as they strike the LordRedemption’s fountain streamsNot comprehending loveNor the power of HeWhose death would conquer death and proveThe truth of prophecy Behold the sinless LambPaying the sinner’s priceHe knew no sin and yet becameSin’s final sacrificeBehold Him hanging thereSuff’ring salvation’s feeHark! Can you hear His dying prayer'Forgive them' was His plea Hatred meets love unflawedWhere holy horrors meldHell's showdown with the Son of GodNo drop of blood withheldWhere death and Life competeAnd death appeared to winCome, kiss His side, his hands, his feetAnd be cleansed from your sin Come, bow beneath God’s SonAnd feel His blood drops flowBeneath the cross red rivers runTo wash us white as snowThen repeat, humbly awedThe Name above all namesJesus, Jesus, the Son of GodWho saves us from our sins Janet Martin
